This en plein air landscape painting is a view of trees along the lily pad covered Lake Okonoka on Belle Isle Park in the Detroit river. We dropped off artwork for the Belle Isle Conservatory benefit garden party and did some plein air painting to enjoy the stunning weather and views.
This is painted on a thinner oil primed Ray Mar panel and not the thicker self hanging Artboard panels.

This urban landscape painting is a view of the art deco style Brown's Bun Bakery building on Vernor Highway in the heart of Southwest Detroit's historic "Mexican Town" area. It was established in 1929 and is in it's fourth generation of family ownership.

Dix Ave Bridge

This industrial landscape painting is a view of the Dix Ave bridge over the Rouge river near the Rouge plant. I got some shots of a freighter going through the bridge and when they tried to lower the drawbridge it was so hot the metal bridge had expanded so much it could not be closed. I left after watching them try to close the bridge for a good half hour. With the Jefferson Ave and Fort St bridges closed for repair the traffic was really backed up. The Fort St bridge is sitting on a barge, maybe a future painting.
